Santa Monica Alt Car Expo Preparation Underway
October 06, 2007 Culver City, CA: As the date of the second annual Santa Monica Alt Car Expo (http://www.altcarexpo.com/) draws near, SSM members in the Los Angeles area are also gearing up and preparing for one of the most important events for alternative fuel businesses in the Southern California area. SSM, a nonprofit alternative fuel vehicle designer and manufacturer, will present its latest designs at the event.
About Alt Car Expo

“Santa Monica has a long history of using and promoting alternative fuel vehicles, providing world-class public transportation system and engage in regional transportation planning efforts… many other public agencies and private businesses have their own success stories. The Alt Car Expo will bring these leaders together to educate consumers on the lessons we have learned and motivate potential vehicle buyers on the better options that are immediately avialable,” said Craig Perkins, City of Santa Monica.
Quoting Platia Productions, the organizer of the event, “The AltCar Expo held last December for the first time was a phenomenal success. We exceeded all expectations for attendance and media exposure, with members of the press coming from Europe, Asia and from all of the major National Sources. Over four dozen ’scouts’ also attended the event, gathering information for the many green and sustainable television and feature productions that are now in the works.”
SSM-OSGV at the Expo
Last year, the OSGV project was awarded runner-up in the first ever Alt Car Contest as being one of the most innovative and feasible projects. We were so honored to share a booth with the City of Santa Monica along with two other conteset winners, Mark Barbush and Todd Bank. And our presence had generated significant amount of interests in the project.
This year’s preparation for the Alt Car Expo is well underway. SSM has secured a booth with financial assistance from the City of Santa Monica. Some of our potential suppliers have also agreed to loan us sample hardware for display.
Today, a few of us have gathered at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Culver City to set up the display boards to be used at the Expo. Display materials will include the latest computer renderings of the Kernel™ Electric Vehicle from our design team at the Rotterdam University. It was a lot of work but it is well worth it. Want to see it? Come visit us at the Expo.
Save the Date
The Expo will be held on Oct 19th and 20th at the Barker Hangar of the Santa Monica Airport. For details, please visit http://www.altcarexpo.com/
