Mission Success: SSM-OSGV at Santa Monica Alt Car Expo 2007

dsc02830-2.jpgOctober 25, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA): Last weekend, thousands of people, including many alternative transportation businesses, gathered at the Barker Hangar of the Santa Monica Airport for the second annual Alternative Fuel Transportation Expo (Alt Car Expo) http://www.altcarexpo.com/ . SSM also showcased our latest concept drawings of the Kernel™ Crossover vehicle, as well as some advanced composite materials to be used in production model.

Mission Success

Estimated more than 1000 people stopped at our booth during the event. Many of them expressed keen interests in our accomplishments so far and further confirms the need for a SUV-like flexible fuel hybrid vehicle in the market.

Amongst the visitors, many are potential investors and buyers who’d like to see our Kernel™ Crossover Vehicle go into production.

Participants

Having a “home-court” advantage, SSM mobilized several of our members in Los Angeles to help prepare, set up and explain the booth displays to our visitors. Our Expo team, including Valerie Wilson, Vivian Liao, Mike Mertz, Bill R., Vanessa Mo, David Lee and other anonymous individuals, have worked delegantly for more than a month to prepare for one of the most important events for alternative transportation.

Due to the “distributed” nature of our organization, some of our members are meeting face-to-face for the first time. We’ve all enjoyed the opportunities to share our opinions and to help create a welcoming atmosphere to our curious guests.

Rotterdam University had also supplied many of the graphics used in the booth displays.

Automotive XPrize Contenders

Besides the Society for Sustainable Mobility, several other Automotive XPrize contenders, including Pheonix Motorcars and ZAP, also showcased their latest products at the Expo: .

Representitives from the Automotive X-Prize committee themselves, Desert Fuel (another XPrize contender) were also present.

Next Steps

Our core team members will follow up with the potential leads and determine if there are any business / outreach opportunities. Stay tuned.
