David W. Lee (Founder and Consultant)
David is the founder of SSM and the co-inventor of Kernel™ electric drivetrain. He is an Engineering Project Manager with years of experience in the Aerospace / Defense industry; Specializing in safety-critical systems, autonomous vehicles and high-power control electronics; Managing Partner of Rugged Electric LLC; PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP); Member of MENSA; Also former engineer at Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. Mr. Lee holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence.

Roeland Hogt (Automotive Engineer)
Working from the Rotterdam University (HRO) in the Netherlands, Roeland, a co-inventor of Kernel™, plays a major role in the development of the Kernel™ concept for SSM. He supervises a team of more than 100 top engineering students at the HRO Department of Automotive Engineering.

He founded Fabulo Design and, in 2003 Mr. Hogt switched profession from automotive R&D to teaching automotive engineering at Rotterdam. Since the completions of the Ecologic and Famulo concepts, Mr. Hogt has been working on the idealistic “ecologic foot print” concepts in his spare time.
“Bill” (Mechanical Engineer)
“Bill” is a highly experienced multi-disciplinary engineering specialist, with a particular interest in mechanical systems and thermal management. Other skills include closed loop actuator and vehicle controls. He has been a Mechanical Engineer by profession; with 30 years of experience in rugged systems. Bill was a contestant in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge as well as being a former Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) engineer who helped build the Galileo space probe.
In his spare time, Bill is a car enthusiast who rebuilt and restored classical automobiles. His work include three 1969 Ford Mustangs and one 1957 Ford Fairlane.
“Sam” (Electrical Engineer)
Sam is an Electrical Engineering Specialist with 28 years of professional experience in commercial and military flight hardware, specialized in high-power Analog Electronics and signal conditioning.
Mike Munroe (Systems Engineer)
Solar car builder; Graduating from Arizona State University Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Mike Mertz (Process Engineer)
Mike is an expert in fuel injection systems. He successfully retrofitted several American muscle cars with an updated electronic fuel injection systems. Those vehicles achieved superb fuel efficiency and power.

Valerie Wilson (Liaison Manager)
Valerie is responsible for maintaining and developing SSM’s relationships with its sponsors, partners and members. Valerie is the member of a local Sierra Club Environmental Committee, an experienced non-profit manager and a amateur mechanics who has a strong interests in alternative fuel vehicles. She thinks that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the most important efforts in controlling global warming that this country (and all countries) can make. She graduated from UCLA with BA in Political Science, International Relations.
Matt Campbell (Information Technology Advisor)
Matt is SSM’s information officer who provided valuable inputs on the development of its electronic infrastructure and services, including the SSM-OSGV web site and the upcoming web-based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Owner of the web hosting company, Server Space Solutions, in New Zealand.
Vivian Liao (Outreach Advisor)
Vivian is the primary contact in the West Los Angeles areas. Vivian is finishing her Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
Riley Spencer (Blogger)
Riley is a junior at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, Ca. His interests include Robotics, Guitar and Piano. He has been on the school’s Robotics Team since the 9th grade and had participated in national robotic competitions.
He had participated in the Model United Nations National Conference in New York. Riley, a member of Model United Nations, has a keen interest in world news and is considering a career in international laws.
